Obituary for Sidney Perdue

Sidney Perdue, 78 of Winifrede went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2024 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

He was a former coal miner with U.S. Steel at Winifrede and was owner and operator of Perdue Enterprises. He was a 1963 graduate of East Bank High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Old Glory Freewill Baptist Church, Winifrede where he faithfully served in many roles over many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Dora “Todie” Barker Perdue, brothers: Jack, Charles, Matthew Perdue Sr. and sisters: Myrtle Mae and Loretta Booher.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Frances Cottrell Perdue, daughters: Melissa Lafferty of Winifrede, Jennifer (Anthony) Tharp of Charleston, Andrea (Rob) O’Meara of Hinton, sister: Allie (James) Perdue McFadden of Winston Salem, NC, grandchildren: Joshua, Taylor, Olivia, Shelby, Gracie and Riley and great granddaughter: Alexandria.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday March 21, 2024 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet with Rev. Tim Oakes officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Visitation is 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Old Glory Freewill Baptist Church 87 Old Glory Lane Winifrede, WV 25214.
