Obituary for Bill Brown

Deacon Levi “Bill” Brown, 74 of Chesapeake died February 17, 2024 at home.

He was a former employee of McJunkin Corporation and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake where he served as a deacon, former superintendent, Sunday school teacher, was in the Mission Circle, the deacon board, the men's choir and was a former director and bus driver for both senior and youth activities. He also organized the October Fish Fry. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by parents: George and Odessa Reed Brown, sister: Dorothy and brothers: James "Hicks" German and Jimmy, James and Lester Brown.

Surviving are his wife: Magnolia Dawson Brown of Chesapeake, son: Jason Brown of Columbus, OH, daughter: Tina Mann of Charleston, stepson: Randall Prieto Jr. of Chesapeake, sisters: Cookie (Neal) Burnette of Chesapeake, Willie Mae Dawkins of Charleston, Patricia Knox of Charleston, Helena Brown of Charleston, Evelene (Sylvester) Leftwich of Huntington, brother: Arthur Washington of Charleston, several grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral will be noon Saturday March 2, 2024 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake with Rev. Dr. Vincent Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow where military graveside rites will be conducted by a U.S. Army Honors Team. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the Church where there will also be a repast following the burial at the cemetery. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of arrangements.
