Obituary for Curtis Michael "Mike" Sutphin
Curtis Michael “Mike” Sutphin, 61, of Marmet, WV, passed away Friday, April 14th, 2023, at Cedar Ridge Center, Sissonville, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis W. and Nancy L. Sutphin, sister Jill R. Sutphin, and brother, Mark E. (Pujo) Sutphin.
Mike is survived by his nephew Zachary (Emily) Sutphin, Charleston, WV, and niece Taylor Ray (Scott), two great nephews of Shiloh, Illinois, along with several cousins, many friends, and extended family at Cedar Ridge Center.
Mike loved Marmet. He could be seen daily riding his bike through town, where he stopped and talked to everyone. He loved dogs and WWE wrestling. Mike made many friends over the years simply by being kind and saying hello. He brought a sense of community to the Town of Marmet, a warmth that only he could bring. For years, Mike waved to the crowd from the front seat of the police car leading the annual Labor Day parade in Marmet. He also received Marmet’s “Citizen of the Year Award.”
A service to honor Mike will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, April 20th, at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home in Marmet, WV. Friends may call 30 minutes prior to service. Condolences may be sent to the family at leonardjohnsonfuneralhome.com
