Obituary for Roger Lee Green

Roger Lee Green, 75 of Chesapeake entered the gates of Heaven on February 12, 2023.

Roger was born on August 8, 1947 to the late Thomas and Opal McVey Green. He married the love of his life and best friend: Sandra Callahan. He retired as a production supervisor from E.I. Dupont Belle Plant. He served in the National Guard’s Air Force Division and spent time as a volunteer fire fighter for Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Department in his younger years.

Roger loved music. He taught himself to play the guitar, piano and organ, all by ear. He also loved to sing. Roger touched many lives. He was a giver. He opened his home and heart to anyone in need. He will always be the greatest man his daughter will ever know. Destiny and “Da Da” shared a special bond that will never be matched. They needed each other. We will miss his dry sense of humor and his silly antics. The memories we have will forever bring a smile to our face. “Da Da,” we will always love you and take comfort knowing you are watching over us as our Guardian Angel!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Hughie and William “Joe” Green.

Surviving are wife: Sandra Callahan Green of Chesapeake, daughter: Robyn Lea Green of Chesapeake and Julie Tucker who was just like a daughter, special niece: Destiny Doss, granddogs: Salton and Sailor, brother: Ralph (Ruby) Green of Mason, OH and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday February 17, 2023 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet with Minister Donald Pauley officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
