Helen Marcella Lawrence, 72 of Charleston died peacefully on December 29, 2022 at Complete Care at Oak Ridge Center, Charleston, surrounded by her family.
She retired from WV Department of Health and Human Resources. She was a kind soul and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by Husband: Cecil Robert Lawrence, Parents: Charles and Helen Hancock Shabdue, Sisters: Drema Fields, Betty Burdette and Anna Burdette and Brothers: Richard, Bobby, Edward and Jerry Shabdue.
Surviving are sons: Christopher (Carol) Slater of Sissonville, Jamison (Joy) Slater of Knoxville, TN, Timothy Slater of Sissonville, sister: Peggy Fields of Myrtle Beach, SC, brother: Michael Shabdue of Sissonville, grandchildren: Dustin and Derek Hopkins, C.J. Slater and Jessica (Warren) Morgan and great grandchildren: Austin, Julie, Oliver and Rowan.
The family would like to thank the staff of Complete Care at Oakridge for their excellent care and support.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of arrangements.
