Obituary for Robert Lee "Bob" Murphy
Robert Lee “Bob” Murphy, 90 of Hernshaw died December 26, 2022 at home.
He was a retired coal miner, and was a former employee of Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet. He was a member of Marmet First Baptist Church and also attended Rumble Community Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Jean Anderson Murphy, sons: Terry and Gary Murphy, daughter: Sharon Griffy, Parents: Walter and Margaret Kelly Murphy and brother: Rayburn Murphy.
Surviving are son: Rodney Murphy of Ashford, daughter: Diane Elkins of Hernshaw, brothers: Donald Murphy of Newport News, VA, Larry Murphy of Delbarton and sister: Shirley Ann Fields of Williamson, KY, twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
According to Bob’s wishes, his body has been donated to The WV Human Gift Registry in hopes that it would benefit others. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet, WV is in charge of arrangements.
