Obituary for Sybil Ann Baldwin

Sybil Ann Baldwin, 54, of Ashford, WV, burst through Heaven’s gate on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, after a short illness.

Sybil was born in Charleston, WV on October 10, 1967 to Doris Tackett the late Carlos “Junior” Tackett. She was preceded in death by her father, her brothers Freeman Tackett and Carl Tackett, and nephew Donald “Donnie” Tackett.

In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 33 years, her “honey”, Tony Baldwin, sons Jason Baldwin (Michelle) of Comfort, Dylan Baldwin (Cassie) of Alum Creek, grandsons Brayden and Cam Hamrick and Waylon Dean Baldwin, granddaughters Olivia Baldwin and Ellie Baldwin, sister Teresa Conley of Marmet, brothers Jerry Tackett (Martha) of Nellis and Robert Tackett of Monford, OH, sister-in-law Vonda Kinder, a host of nieces and nephews, many friends, as well as her brothers and sisters in Christ: her Rumble Baptist Church family.

Sybil’s life was dedicated to God and her family. At the center of her heart was her love for her grandchildren. Through them, she leaves a legacy.

Sybil was blessed with an abundance of gifts. She took those gifts seriously when applying them to her walk with Jesus. Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. And she did serve Him. Through her paintings, her love of photography, her love of children, and her absolute unwavering need to help others, Sybil used her talents to honor His sacrifice and praise His name.

John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love. 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Sybil took loving others to the highest level. To hear her say “There is so much joy in serving the Lord,” and see the smile on her face as she said it, was like a breath of fresh air. Sybil loved the Lord. She did her Father’s work so well that she finished early, and He called her home. It has been said that if sunshine were a person, it would have been Sybil. Just like the light of the stars, her light will shine on long after she has gone.

Funeral will be Noon Friday September 23, 2022 at Rumble Community Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Harold and Reggie Woodrum officiating. Burial will follow in Barker Cemetery, Ashford. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service at the Church. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of arrangements.
