James E. “Boothill” Smith, 75 of Nellis died June 14, 2022 at the home of his daughter Lynn in Bloomingrose.
He retired from Kanawha Coal Company Madison Mines and was an underground coal miner for over 18 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his four wheeler and playing his guitar. He loved being outside.
He was preceded in death by Wife: Betty J. Smith, Son: James R. “Gondi” Smith, Parents: Alfred and Genevieve Javins Smith, Brothers: Emmitt, Roy and Timothy Smith and Sisters: Anna M. Pauley and Effie Mullins.
Surviving Are: Daughters: Marietta Lynn (Ronnie) Maloskey, Jennifer (Sheldon) Copeland and Christine Smith, Brother: Lester (Mary) Smith of Ridgeview, Sisters: Sue (Troy) Morris of Ashford and Deloris (Peachy) McCormick of Ashford, 11 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated and a service will be held at a later date. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of arrangements.
