Obituary for Bernard Ray Saulsbery Sr.

Bernard Ray Saulsbery Sr., 86 of Marmet went to Heaven to be with the Lord on November 8, 2021 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

Bernard was a member of The Marmet Community Church and his priorities were God, family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and was blessed to be able to fix just about anything he tinkered with. Bernard was one to never give up and he never complained about anything even after losing his eyesight to diabetes. He was cherished and loved by all!

He retired from U.S. Steel at Decota after over 30 years of service as a coal miner and was a member of the UMWA.

He was preceded in death by Father: Dennis Saulsbery, Mother: Pauline Ferris Gillespie, Step-Father: Burns Gillespie, Sisters: Betty Lou, Edith Ann and Brother: Clyde Sr.

Left to cherish his memory are:

His loving wife of 66 years: Nancy Elizabeth Saulsbery of Marmet,

Daughters: Nancy Ann Tincher of Kanawha City,
Deborah Lynn (Rick) Turley of Pinch,

Grandson: C.J. Trent of Charleston,

Step-Grandsons: Daniel (Cassie) Turley and great grandsons: Bryson and Ayden of Pinch and Richard Turley and great grandson: Braeden of Maryland,

Sisters: Carolyn, Maxine, Mary, Linda, Brenda and Patricia,

Brother: Sam,

Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Special thanks to sister in law and caregiver: Irma Woody of Whitesville.

Per his wishes, he was cremated and a memorial service will be Noon Saturday May 28, 2022 at Marmet Community Church 8803 MacCorkle Ave. Marmet, WV 25315 with Rev. Stanley Konkle officiating. Interment of Ashes will follow in White Cemetery at Bomont. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of arrangements.
