Obituary for Vonda Jean Thompson

Vonda Jean Thompson, 67 of Rock Creek, Raleigh County went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2021 while surrounded by her family at Doug and Lucy Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.

She was born on May 29, 1953 at Raleigh General Hospital. She was the loving wife of Robert Lewis Thompson for 40 years and was a strong powerful woman of God who enjoyed singing, praising and playing her guitar in church. She was the type who never met a stranger and those who knew her loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by Husband: Robert Thompson, Parents: Shelby and Frances Marie Pennington White and Sister Anna Hartman.

Surviving are her 2 daughters: Rhonda Alderman and partner Samuel Pettry of Ameagle and Bobbi Jo Miller and husband Tony of Rock Creek.

Vonda is also survived by three brothers: Hot Rod White and his wife Judy of Petersburg, Gary White and his wife Melody of Petersburg and J.D. White of Winchester, VA, grandchildren: Natasha Nichole, Anthony Joel, Kyla Marie, Makayla Jo, Haley Brooke, Kirsten Nicole, Kaylee Jean, Maycee Jo, Malachi Harrison, Toby Lee and Susan Marie, great grandchildren: Gabriel Matthew, Abel Joseph and Kynleigh Kay Rose. Also her lifelong best friend: Betty Scott and husband George of Sycamore and her special companion: John Pettry.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of arrangements.
