John Franklin Pomeroy Sr., 83 of Dry Branch died December 27, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

He was a retired coal miner from Valley Camp Coal Co., Witcher Creek and was a U.S. Forest Ranger. He was a member of Winifrede Chapel Church.

He was preceded in death by First wife: Shirley Sue Pomeroy,
Daughter: Diane Sue Cooper,
Parents: Cecil James and Ethel Virginia Skaggs Pomeroy,
Brothers: Dewey, Bobby, William Ray, Glendon and Clarence Pomeroy,
Sisters: Bertha Oiler, Virginia L. Adkins and Mary Belle Haush and
Grandson: Benjamin Dalton Adkins.

Surviving Are:

Wife of 25 years: Karen Sue Green Pomeroy of Dry Branch,

Sons: John Franklin (Pamela) Pomeroy Jr. of Maryville, TN,
Paul (Tammy) Pomeroy of Tampa Bay, FL,
Jimmy Pomeroy of Dry Branch,
Charles “Bubby” Proctor of Campbells Creek,

Daughters: Patricia (Rich) Lafluer of Pottsdam, NY,
Donna (Clayton) Adams of Brandon, FL,
Deborah (George) Kahlert of Dry Branch,
Cindy (Gene) Dunn of Ohley,
Michelle (Ben) Adkins of Lizemores,

Son in law: Russell Eugene Cooper of Dry Branch,

Great Grandchildren: Megan and Amber Maclutsky, LaDonna, Cheyenne and Billy Counts, Brandon, Finn and Garrett Slack, Collin, Kayla, Kassy, Brice and Rusty Cooper, Raelyn Pack and Corey and Isaac Tucker Wehrle.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 31, 2019 at Ward Church of God with Pastor Donald Lanham and Ronnie Kimble officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of arrangements.
