Billy Lee “Mayor” Pauley, 90 of Marmet passed away peacefully on October 25, 2018 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston after a long illness. He was surrounded and embraced by family.
He was born and raised in Boone County. His greatest achievement was being the mayor of Marmet for 36 years. He had a passion in his heart for serving others. He was always involved with various civic affairs from local government to state legislation. He fought to always provide his beloved town of Marmet with all he could. At one point during his tenure, Marmet was known as the richest little town in West Virginia. He earned many accolades from the governor of West Virginia and a large group of civic leagues.
He also had a passion in his heart and soul to sing the Word of God. He was a faithful member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He was also a founding member of the Happy Valley Boys Gospel Quartet where he blessed many with his tenor voice for over 70 years.
