Obituary for Bruce Carson Stanley

Print
Bruce Carson Stanley, 85 of Chesapeake, WV passed away September 14, 2018 at Clark’s Christian Care Home, East Bank after a long illness.

Carson was born on July 26, 1933 in Kayford, WV to the late Herf and Louise Clere Stanley. Also preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 63 years Charlotte Ann Spaulding Stanley and his brothers Rexell and Johnny.

Carson graduated from East Bank High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his time with the Marines, he reached the rank of sergeant and became a shooting instructor for the new recruits. He became so proficient at shooting that the military offered him a chance to qualify for the Olympics if he would re-enlist but he turned down the opportunity because he had a wife and 3 small sons that needed him at home. After returning home, he worked in the mining industry before going to work for Western Union as an installer technician. Later in life he returned to the mining industry serving as a local secretary to the UMWA.

Carson loved dancing. He especially liked going to lunch on Wednesdays at the Chesapeake Senior Citizens Center where one of his favorite bands played. He was always available to help anyone in need and was always the life of the party. He and Charlotte enjoyed their grandchildren always taking them on different adventures.

Surviving Are:
