Derek Lee Nelson, 36, of Racine, WV passed away suddenly on July 12, 2018. Derek was born June, 22, 1982. He graduated from Sherman High School in Seth, WV and received a Bachelors Degree in Business from West Virginia State University in Institute, WV.

Derek is so dearly loved and will be forever missed by his family and anyone else who knew what a good heart he had and just how funny he was. Derek was a new father to a beautiful baby girl he quickly came to adore. To see the happiness she brought into his life, how proud he was, and how she lit up his world was a gift to us all. Although his time with us has ended much too soon, we will hold onto the memories we have shared and the joy he brought into our hearts.

Left to cherish his memory are fiancee Ashley Estep and daughter Natalie Dawn Nelson of Racine,WV, Mother, Veronica Kirk, of Racine, WV, Father, Don Nelson and wife Glenda Nelson of Marmet, WV, sister, Amanda Nelson, of Charleston,WV and many other very close family members and friends.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday July 17, 2018 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet,WV with Rev. Roger Halstead officiating. Burial will follow in Marmet Cemetery. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
